What Comes Before Confidence
It’s not mastery.
It’s not accolades.
It’s not framed certificates on the wall.
It’s not letters after you name.
It’s COURAGE.
As I was listening to an author [Jennifer Allwood] describe her book, “Fear Is Not The Boss Of You,” I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes:
“Confidence is the willingness to try.” [Mel Robbins]
I think about this quote when I’m feeling stuck. When I’m feeling like I’m not sure what my next step should be. When I’m worried about what other people may think.
This quote reminds me that when I try new things – and fail – that I have the confidence in myself to GET BACK UP AND TRY AGAIN. Try something new. Try something in a different speed, color, or phrase.
My confidence muscle gets a little stronger with every courageous step, personally and professionally.
Don’t wait for confidence because it may not show up without YOU taking the first few steps.
