Have you ever heard yourself say any of the following?
I’M MY OWN WORST ENEMY. I CAN’T GET OUT OF MY OWN WAY.
Have you experienced this? Or heard these words from someone you know?
Self sabotage is ubiquitous and damaging to many areas of our lives. At some point, all of us have experienced it.
It comes in many forms and can impact various areas of our lives. Work. School. Sports. Relationships. Health.
Self sabotage is often driven by conscious or unconscious negative self talk, also known as the inner critic or inner punisher.
How does this inner critic develop?
We get programmed with our basic subconscious blueprint from birth to age 7 as we absorb everything from our environment. In essence, we have no filter and take in whatever is told to us. At around age 7, we begin developing the analytical brain, which can begin to discern and filter out what makes sense to our young brains.
Our parents, society, and sphere of influence teach us about everything from morals to money, and our young brains take it as truth and often make meaning out of our young experiences. For example, the 6 year old self may have internalized punishment and made it mean, “I am bad.” Repeated experiences like this one ingrain and encode certain beliefs and emotions in the energetic body. The dense feeling of shame often shows up as a self-sabotage loop we may experience as adults. Maybe this shows up as self-doubt or perfectionism or not wanting to shine in your business. Everyone has had different experiences and thus has different blocks.
As adults, after years of conditioning, the brain is used to thinking certain thoughts, feeling the same emotions, and you’ve created an IDENTITY around who you are.
These thoughts trigger emotions which creates your beliefs, disposition, and overall self-image. You might hear yourself saying, “I’m _______” fill in the blank - an anxious person, a hard worker, an overachiever. The way you define yourself is based upon a series of thoughts, emotions, and how you’ve related to yourself up until this point.
For example, if you grew up feeling guilty all of the time, you likely feel that on a weekly basis. Quantum physics has shown that the brain gets used to those chemicals of guilt (much like a drug) and so the subconscious scans the environment to find more ways to feel guilty to keep that level at steady state.
Your subconscious just accepts that "this is the way I am" and keeps cycling through the same mental and emotional suffering loops…until you are introduced to transformation work.
This is truly why I am so passionate about this work. My own story of repeated suffering loops around my body image, toxic relationships, and my low self-worth drove me to seek out answers to help myself heal and transform. It wasn’t until I started this work that I broke the vicious cycles of self sabotage and healed my life. In a million years, I would never have imagined owning my own business, being an author of 3 books, and making the impact I do now.
This transformation work is how I help my clients too. Many of them are pharmacists and they come to me with various blocks - self-doubt, not trusting themselves, patterns of control/rigidity, unworthiness, or fear of fully being seen in their business.
I gently help them become aware of these subtle, unconscious self sabotaging patterns keeping them stuck. I utilize a variety of techniques with them including hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, timeline therapy, quantum physics principles, brain wave entrainment/heart coherence, and other powerful releasing tools to help them transform.
When you can liberate and release these old ways of thinking, acting, and being…you experience FREEDOM to move forward CONFIDENTLY toward your most aligned, authentic path. As you begin rewiring how you see yourself (your self-image), you become more confident and begin taking different actions.
This transformation work is not about “fixing” or “changing” yourself to be “better.” It’s about deprogramming the limiting beliefs we learned as truth and returning to our own inner compass to lead us to true fulfillment. THIS is what our series is truly about – empowering you to know that you are the creator of your reality and you can transform your life to reach fulfillment of your soul’s purpose.
It’s about embracing your unique soul gifts and amplifying your confidence to take the aligned action to pursue your dreams.
These topics are what Dr. Brooke Griffin and I are teaming up to talk about in our 3 part series, The Confident Career Expansion Series. This free series will be featured on July 20th, July 27th, and August 3rd on Dr. Brooke’s group, 21st Century PharmD Facebook group.
In this 3 part series, we are going to be opening up the conversation about overcoming self-sabotage, how to change your thoughts on a conscious level, and how to work with your subconscious mind to embody the professional you want to be. We’ll be providing you with transformational tools and actionable steps at the end of each Live to guide you to expand into your most authentic and aligned career path.
We hope you’ll join us for this unique experience!
